What have I gotten myself into????
This is how I began. It took me about 6 months to get up the courage to actually begin to color them. I would lose the first coloring book and buy another one only to immediately find the first one. Isn't that how it always works?
The name of the book is "Create Your Own Tarot Deck" and the cards pop out of the book.
Let me begin with some suggestions and problems.
The book suggests using colored pencil only. So far I have added gel pens and permanent markers to the cards. I used a gold Sharpie to do the edges and border. At first I was going to cut the white edge off but I can't cut a straight line to save my life. I can edge a straight line. I intend to change the border color with each suite. The belt on the Magician is done in gel pen as is the thin line border around the picture. I think the theory was the markers would bleed through. They don't or at least the Sharpie didn't and neither did the Molotow Liquid Chrome marker. However, the cards are thin and you can see the back through them if you hold them up to light. They are going to be too thin for shuffling so I have to decide whether to use contact paper to thicken them up. However one person has assured me that contact paper front and back will make them too bulky. That is 75 cards from now.
There is one thing that is for sure, the punch out is not micro perforation. You get these annoying little tabs everywhere including the rounded corners. I have tried to sand them off with my best sanding blocks. That was a no go. Scissors takes me back to the can't cut a straight line thingie. I think I will try the craft knife next or a rolling cutter. They are super annoying.
It takes me at least one day of coloring and agonizing over the colors to use to finish a card.
This is going to be a long process.
Next post: pencil types.
